100 Days of Favor Day One

Day 1: You Have The Power To Look To Jesus

Beginning today, I want you to go with me on a journey of “100 Days of Favor.” Everyone of us need this journey, especially now with the Coronavirus, racial division, governments striving for power and rising hate in our world. You, like me, want to experience peace and joy. The way to get this is through Jesus Christ. My friends, we were never supposed to live in a state of confusion, but we were supposed to live in heaven upon the earth.

So today let us begin our quest for God’s favor and today we put aside all our differences and trust in our God. This means that we make a commitment with God to trust and rely completely upon Him.

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭3:18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

What is the value of looking toward Jesus? How does this help us when the mortgage is due and there is no money in the bank? How does it help us when we go to the cupboard and find no food to eat? How does it help us when our children are suffering because they have a lack of fellowship because of mask mandates in school and social distancing? How does this help us when people are so full of fear that they want to take their own lives? These questions flood people’s minds daily, but when we look to Jesus, miracles happen. You don’t believe it, that is what Peter thought, he let everything that was bad dominate his beliefs until he looked at Jesus.

“Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭14:22-33‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

When a boat is the middle of the sea, the practical thing for any person to do is stay in the boat. Science says, if you step out of the boat into the ocean, you will sink. This wasn’t the case with Peter, this was the night that one of the greatest miracles happened in his life. It is the night that he looked to Jesus and stepped out of the boat. On this night, the sea was rough and the wind was boisterous, but that didn’t matter to Peter, he stepped out of the boat onto the water. As long as Peter looked to Jesus the miracle continued and he put one foot in front of the other and walked toward Him on the water. Jesus was walking upon the water and when Peter looked to Jesus, he became like Him and was able to walk on the water to. God’s Word declares in Second Corinthians chapter three, verse eighteen, “that we (everyone of us who are born again) with unveiled faces (God’s children who have a personal relationship with Him) beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image (the image of Christ Jesus) from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (Emphasis added)

“Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.”
‭‭I John‬ ‭4:17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Word declares that as we look to Jesus, we are transformed to be like Him. Notice it only said we have to behold Him, not do any work. When we see that Jesus rises above troubled waters and above the storms, we will experience peace when the storms of life rage around us. Nothing inside of Peter physically could allow him to walk on water. It was against all of mans interpretation, the science made it unlawful. Nothing natural can make a man walk on water. What Peter did was because he looked to Jesus.

On the other hand, look what happened to Peter when he stopped looking to Jesus. What happened to him when he looked at the rolling waves of the sea and saw and heard the boisterous winds? There in that moment, Peter became natural. He sank into the water. Let us turn things around for the moment, let’s just say that the wind was not blowing and the sea was very calm. Could Peter have walked on water then in his own power? No he could not.

Walking on water is not something that we can do naturally. I know, because I have tried it several times. Every time I have tried it, I sank. We can’t do it whether the storm is present or it is calm. The weather conditions don’t matter. In Peter’s situation, the best thing that he could have done was keep his eyes upon Jesus. If we would stop looking at the insurmountable odds that are against us and turn our eyes upon Jesus, we will see change come. The supernatural will rise above the natural. This may sound scientifically impractical, it may be, but it is the most important thing that we can do because when we look at Jesus, we experience the supernatural.

Five years ago my wife and I received a bad report from my wife’s doctor, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer and it was already in stage three. The doctor told her that she would have to have surgery, then after surgery she would have to go through weeks of chemotherapy followed by weeks of radiation therapy. The doctor also said that after having all of this, it wasn’t a guarantee of complete wholeness. Our children were called because the doctors gave my wife no hope. We prayed, spoke God’s Word over the situation and I am happy to report that Jesus healed her and she is now free of cancer, all tests negative. My wife and I looked to Jesus and the impossible became possible.

If you think that a simple look to Jesus is impractical, I am challenging you right now to see that it isn’t. Matter-a-fact, looking at Jesus is the most practical thing that you can do. Every time that you look at Him, you are changed to be like Him. The more you look, the more you will change. Hey, what do you have to lose? You tried everything else, so why not look to Jesus? You have so much to gain.

Pray This: “Father, I know that a man cannot walk on water, whether in stormy or calm conditions. Likewise, whether there are problems in my life or not, I cannot reign in life without Jesus. Apart from Him, I can do NOTHING. Therefore, I ask that You help me keep my eyes on Jesus despite the many things that I have to deal with today. I thank You that as I look to Jesus for all my needs and wants in the midst of every difficulty and challenge, I know that He will place me at the right place at the right time and provide me with every resource I need to experience good success! Thank You Jesus for what You have already done…Amen.”

Declare this: I can walk above any problem, any situation, and any circumstance that comes my way, because my eyes are on Jesus.
